Bank on Dinoblue

The Mares Chase is a race where plenty are entered at this stage, but I get a feeling it will be a small field that makes it to post.

The form and profile of most of the runners aren’t convincing, which means when we get to the day there could only be one or two with a realistic chance of winning.

Dinoblue could very well go off around an even money favourite. She is currently priced at 11/4 which is incredibly generous.

Looking through the field I struggle to see dangers to the selection.

Allegorie De Vassy was in receipt of 6lb from Dinoblue last time out and Dinoblue absolutely toyed with her on the run in, being value for much more than the small winning distance suggested. Mark Walsh was always getting there and did it snugly. Dinoblue confirms the form barring accidents you’d think.

Bioluminescence seems to be the name on everyone’s lips but I don’t think she is a certainty to line up, never mind to beat Dinoblue. She ran second to Dancing City at the DRF, beaten easily enough at the finish, but there was nothing in the race behind her. She was entitled to finish second against three horses that had absolutely no chance of being involved. Both Dinoblue and Bioluminescence are owned by JP McManus and I’d be shocked if retained rider Mark Walsh got off Dinoblue here.

Limerick Lace beat a staying on Dinoblue in this race last year but has regressed since. Allegorie De Vassy gave her a 25 length beating on her latest run.

Dinoblue has been tried in some excellent races since last years festival, running with credit against the likes of Gaelic Warrior, Marine Nationale, Solness, Energumene, Banbridge, Appreciate It….. there is nothing of that calibre in this mares chase and I think we are getting 11/4 on an open goal.

Let’s hope Mark Walsh can get the job done.

Selection: Dinoblue, Mares Chase, 11/4.
