Willy De Houelle can gallop to glory in the Fred Winter

Our eighth antepost Cheltenham Corner bet comes after watching the DRF and checking out where the juveniles finished and how they were ridden. Some were never put in the race with a fair chance which is interesting.

Willy De Houelle is not one of the stars of the Willie Mullins stable that’s fair to say, but I do like his chances of taking the Fred Winter at a nice antepost price.

The horse was beaten at odds of 1/4 at Fairyhouse but looks to me like he is being brought along steadily with a bigger target in mind. His two most recent runs have been behind the impressive winner Hello Neighbour, including at the DRF, where he obvious wasn’t aimed at the races. Willy De Houelle hasn’t had the services of stable jockey Paul Townend since his debut. I doubt he has been trained to peak fitness yet and the best is yet to come.

There is the typical Willie Mullins dilemma of which festival race does he run in. He is entered for the Triumph, but I think he looks like a Fred Winter horse all day long and expect a late switch. Guesswork of course.

For this bet make sure you bet with a bookie that is Non Runner Money Back. Paddy Power, Skybet, and William Hill are three that definitely offer NRNB markets but there will be more I’d guess.

Selection: Willy De Houelle, Fred Winter, Cheltenham Festival, 8/1 non runner money back.
