Free Daily Tips: 10th February
Monday is a very quiet day with low grade racing. Still the three meetings give us 22 races, which is plenty enough to back a good few winners.
Catterick
2:00 Tigerbythetail. Shocking performance last time but this is a prolific winning pointer who is more than capable of winning a maiden hurdle.
2:30 Baby Chou. Runner up over C&D last time out and is a big price to go one better for Sam & Jonathan England.
3:00 Allbetsoff. Had a wind operation and the hood goes back on after a long break. Was a winner twice over the summer but is priced at around 20/1 today due to a poor run at Huntingdon before his break.
3:30 Yggdrasil. Has won three time over fences but has raced sparingly in the last few years. His three starts for David Pipe have been average at best but the headgear goes back on today. Yggdrasil although a double figure price today is still the best horse in the line up.
4:00 Cougar. Will be a massive price as the horse has regressed with each run of its career. Was poor on yard debut for Ben Haslam last time, and the visor goes on today. If the first time visor has the desired effect then Cougar could steal this race but it’s not a race for large stakes.
4:30 White Riot. This horse has spent a year off the track since making its debut and has since moved yards from Ben Pauling to Fergal O’Brian. He was fancied on debut going off at 10/3 but was well beaten. A small improvement would be good enough to win what is a poor bumper here.
Plumpton
1:45 San Pedro. Was a wide margin winner of this corresponding race last year and has been edging down the weights since, now back to a point where it could be a rinse & repeat scenario.
2:15 Under The Sun. Average horse on the flat for Hugo Palmer and makes his national hunt debut today for Gary Moore. Should be no problem with staying this far over hurdles. Has an excellent chance of beating Narragansett. One of two horses today where the Moores have booked Harry Cobden. I’ll be backing both of them.
2:45 Walks Like The Man. His fourth in a 3m handicap last time is fair form for the grade and the step back down in trip will help. We have a few last time winners in the race but they will have to run career bests to beat our horse if he performs.
3:15 Sparkling Duke. Failed to stay when running well for third last time out and drops back down in trip today. It’s a small field today which won’t be too taxing and this strong traveller will be suited to the conditions.
3:45 Unanswered Prayers. These regional national races take some staying and you need a certain type of horse. Unanswered Prayers is already a Southern National winner and goes today in the Sussex National. I’m not confident the others will see the race out as strongly at the business end so will be backing Unanswered Prayers to give the majority of the field (except Chambard) weight and a beating.
4:15 Alto Alto. Won this race last year. A four time course winner. First time visor today. Back down in the weights. Will be suited by a small field. Great chance.
4:45 Little Soiree. It could be a great day for Chris Gordon who looks to have a number with strong chances across the card. This is a maiden who has shown reasonable ability and improved last time to finish third. Returns from a small break into a winnable contest where her rivals are poor. She is top weight in this handicap and can give away the weight to inferior horses, albeit low grade so not one for the mortgage.
Wolverhampton
4:25 Paradoxical. Showing good form and is being campaigned aggressively. Can make another bold showing,
5:00 Desert Champion. Was beaten nearly two lengths by Megaphone last time out but connections of this horse think they can beat Megaphone today with slightly different tactics. I don’t have a strong opinion but I hear there is confidence in others so that will do for me.
5:30 Counsel. In good form and blitzed his rivals a few days ago. Should do the same again here today under a penalty.
6:00 Jonny Garlic. A lightly raced sort who ran a good third last time out. Should appreciate the step up in trip.
6:30 Miss Calculation. Her second at Southwell showed a step in the right direction. Nothing else in the race appears to be in any form whatsoever.
7:00 Available Angel. Hasn’t win in 25 runs but I’m looking at the booking of Hollie Doyle and wondering if today is the day the horse is fancied.
7:30 Zooks. I don’t like the trainer from a betting perspective but this horse has the form to win today and wouldn’t need to improve to do so.
8:00 Galactic Glow. Hasn’t got close to troubling the judge in nineteen starts but shaped as if coming back to top form last time when fifth at Kempton. Needed a stronger pace that day and could get the stronger pace today. Huge price but has a chance.
8:30 Conquest Of Power. Good second last time just six days ago, steps up in trip significantly and wears first time cheekpieces. Great chance.
Happy punting
