Free Daily Tips: 3rd February

What a Dublin Racing Festival it was, or should that be Willie Mullins benefit weekend. Ballyburn, Kopek Des Bordes and State Man won for us yesterday to add to wins elsewhere from Just Like Magic (8/1) and Tripoli Flyer.

Todays selections:

Southwell

1:10 Zestful Hope. Very consistent without managing to get his head in front for a while. Excellent second at Hereford last time out and can get the better of the hat trick seeking Idealko who reverts to chasing after taking a hurdle race at Warwick.

1:40 Prince Cleni. A three time course and distance winner who shaped encouragingly last time when second at Doncaster, staying on well late on. Well weighted.

2:10 Unleash The Beast. Very little in terms of form in this line up. Unleash The Beast has shown the best form but seems to want a step up in trip to show his best. He doesn’t get that today, but the opposition doesn’t seem a high standard. Karton Plein is the obvious danger but his form in two runs to date hasn’t screamed out next time winner either.

2:45 Elforleather. Chanced to make a winning hurdle debut in another weak race. Heart Over Head ran second at Market Rasen last time but that was over a year ago and he has had issues. Rule Me In was second in a point race but didn’t look a superstar, and Spectre One looked useless first time out at Huntingdon.

3:18 Wilmcote. Has looked to have potential without troubling the judge so far and his third at Uttoxeter looks good in the context of this race.

3:50 Shared. Has looked lazy and needs pushing along at times but steps back up in trip which will help.

4:20 De Vega’s Warrior. Hasn’t looked a good jumper but his last time out third was a step in the right direction and the cheekpieces go on.

Carlisle

1:20 King Coconut. I’m not backing More Coco at 1/4 on, so will take a chance on this newcomer.

1:50 Blue D’enfer. If it seems a two horse race between a Bryan Hughes ride and another one, I’ll back the other one every time. This is the case here and our selection has a better profile.

2:20 Wendywilldo. Mongibello will likely be odds on after his run behind Aurora Vega at Fairyhouse but it probably flattered him. Wendywilldo was a fast finishing second to Just Call Me Lucy at Wetherby and should go well again.

2:55 Chatshow Host. Looks to be the stable number two here but will improve over fences.

3:30 Golden Maverick. Travelled well until a last flight error last time and this is a weak race.

4:00 Travail D’Orfevre. Previous course winner who came back to form last time out. Only goes up 2lb.

4:33 Noble George. Looked okay when second on debut at Sedgefield. Looks to have They Want Me to beat but that one is ridden by Bryan Hughes so is automatically crossed off my list.

Punchestown

1:00 Vanillier. Good back form and sports first time blinkers. Hasn’t won in 17 starts but this looks a good place to start. Good price.

1:30 Splashing Out. Up in trip significantly. Promising second in a novice chase looking like he wants a trip.

2:00 Ethical Diamond. Better than these. Simples.

2:30 Johnny Blue. Rubbish run last time but better back form than his rivals and steps back up in trip.

3:05 Jacob’s Ladder. I’m surprised this horse isn’t odds on but the price is 10/3 which looks suspiciously good. Career best at Navan last time and is on a workable handicap mark.

3:40 Argento Boy. Better than this race despite a no show last time.

4:10 Robyndeglory. Massive price if he shows something like his best.

Wolverhampton

4:27 Alpine Trail. £550k newcomer. Fantastic pedigree and could be a potential Royal Ascot type.

5:00 Blue Anthem. Has had the three runs for a handicap mark and goes straight up in trip. Typical dodgy campaigning but has a good chance.

5:30 Ornately. Another who has had the three runs for a handicap mark and could be way better than his opening mark.

6:00 Jonny Garlic. Fair run only two days ago and steps up in trip. Will win with minimal improvement.

6:30 Level Up. Course and distance winner who returned to form 4 days ago. Will win if in a similar mood.

7:00 Easter Icon. Fit from hurdling and would have won last time but for unseating at the last.

7:30 Lightningboltzoom. Ran well last time and has a chance in an open handicap.

8:00 King’s Crown. Won last time to end a poor run of form and will win if in the same form.

8:30 Cooperation. Hasn’t won in eighteen runs but looks a shoe in here if repeating his Southwell second last week.

Happy punting
