Our Daily Trio selections for Friday 24th January.
Sandown Military Gold Cup day is always an enjoyable card, albeit with varying degrees of jockey ability on show. Typically there are only a small number of horses who can be involved in the finish in the Gold Cup, making it an appealing betting race for punters.
This years race is no different. Former army captain and four time winner of the race as a jockey Jamie Snowden cleaned up in these races last year, winning the Gold Cup at Sandown then following up in the Royal Artillery Gold Cup a few weeks later with Farceur Du Large. We know the trainer targets this race. We know the jockey can win on the horse. We know the horse is capable of winning this race. Farceur Du Large is back for more and nothing suggests it won’t be a repeat in 2025. Selection: Farceur Du Large, 1 point win, 3:00 Sandown.
Don’t Wind Me Up has shown steady improvement, although three consecutive third places makes you question its resolution in a finish. A switch to handicaps will help, and the opposition here looks weak. A sensible round of jumping should be enough to get the horse in the winners enclosure without needing to be above average or find a great deal of improvement. Selection: Don’t Wind Me Up, 1 point win, 1:50 Sandown
Another that can win without needing to show much improvement is Sweet Couture. She has decent experience for a novice and sports first time blinkers today. It’s a poor race and Sweet Couture can put the experience to good use against a mix of newcomers and frankly rubbish horses. Selection: Sweet Couture, 1 point win, 12:35 Lingfield.
Also have a 1 point treble.
Happy punting

Points? How do I bet? Simply think of a point as your preferred unit stake. If you want to bet in £10s then you would have 3x £10 wins and an £10 treble.
What is the Daily Trio strategy?
The proven betting system and recommended bet is three singles and a treble. As a rough rule of thumb: one winner = money back, two winners = double your money, three winners = jackpot!
Why does the Daily Trio strategy work?
Mav operates at roughly a 33% strike rate for winners over the year, so around one in three selections win. Assuming each winner is 3/1 on average (some are much higher) then each year we should see money back at least based on purely the single bets alone, and the profit comes from the trebles.
