Our Daily Trio selections for Monday 20th January 2025
It’s allegedly Blue Monday today, the most depressing day of the year if you believe in that kind of stuff. I don’t, and I’m looking forward to a few winners to make it a magnificent Monday. Warwick, Ayr, Kempton and Wolverhampton are the meetings to choose from and each card is competitive.
Lavender Hill Mob shouldn’t be beaten in the opener at Warwick. I’m not usually one for even money shots, but I’d price this horse up at 2/7 if I was laying a bet. He was well held last time but is simply better than this lot. A month ago he was considered the most likely Triumph horse from the same James Owen yard that has East India Dock. If Lavender Hill Mob can’t win this race then he probably wont be seen over jumps again. Selection: Lavender Hill Mob, 12:05 Warwick, 1 point win.
Romantic Opera only finished 7th of 12 on debut around two months ago. It wasn’t as bad as the position suggests though as the first ten were only covered by three lengths at the line. She steps up in trip today which will help. The combination of learning on the job first time up, and a longer trip, should see this granddaughter of Rip Van Winkle home in front. I expect her to be ridden more positively today and she can get the better of the current race favourite Blue Laced who is priced ridiculously at even money here considering its average form in three runs to date. Selection: Romantic Opera, 2:30 Kempton, 1 point win.
Tyke caught the eye last time out in a Wolverhampton race over the same course and distance as he tackles today. The horse was showing absolutely no talent until that run, where he looked the best horse in the race, finishing second but easily the best position from those that were ridden towards the front. That was 7 days ago and it looks like Mick Appleby is getting him to top form. Knowing that a horse is in good nick is vital when betting at this low level, and he will be trying to win today. Following horses in form for a 3/4 week period after a good placed effort is a good strategy at Wolverhampton as the horses perform in patches. Selection: Tyke, 6:00 Wolverhampton, 1 point win.
Also have a 1 point win treble.
Good luck

Points? How do I bet? Simply think of a point as your preferred unit stake. If you want to bet in £10s then you would have 3x £10 wins and an £10 treble.
What is the Daily Trio strategy?
The proven betting system and recommended bet is three singles and a treble. As a rough rule of thumb: one winner = money back, two winners = double your money, three winners = jackpot!
Why does the Daily Trio strategy work?
Mav operates at roughly a 33% strike rate for winners over the year, so around one in three selections win. Assuming each winner is 3/1 on average (some are much higher) then each year we should see money back at least based on purely the single bets alone, and the profit comes from the trebles.
