Our Daily Trio selections for Saturday 8th February

Racing fans should enjoy today as each meeting looks interesting. If I didn’t have the kids hogging the TV I’d be feet up and watching every race all day long. Might have to pay the Mrs to take them out…

It was tough narrowing down the three selections for today as I’ll personally be backing six. I’ll have the bet again with the three that don’t make the cut below.

The three that very nearly made it were:

Bravemansgame (2:25) – unbeaten at Newbury and receives 6lb from Djelo who was put in his place by Protektorat last time out.

Edwardstone (3:00) -the form chasing home Jonbon is good enough to win today and he can follow up last years win in this race.

Warrant Holder (6:00) -Someone may own a 50/1 antepost Epsom Derby bet on this one I hear. Frankel colt. Related to winners such as 1½m winner High Order, 1¼m winner Portfolio and 1¼m winner Educator.

Those that made the cut:

Gala Marceau should win today, and win easily. Was last seen chasing home Lossiemouth in a Grade 1 over in Ireland. There is nothing here who could get near her assuming she is fit. West Balboa seems to be regressing and the other runners may as well be 1,000,000/1. Selection: Gala Marceau, 2:40 Warwick, 1 point win.

Strong Run has looked above average in two runs to date. Her third in a listed race at Cheltenham last time is good form and she is a bigger price in the early betting than I would expect, I’d have this as a 4/6 shot. Selection: Strong Run, 4:23 Warwick, 1 point win.

Allegorie De Vassy looked outstanding at Fairyhouse last time and a repeat would certainly win this today, but she isn’t the most reliable of horses and Naas will suit less than Fairyhouse. Dinoblue needs to come back to form but Cheltenham is close enough and I expect her to be a player there. Dinoblue’s run behind Solness looks better now than it did at the time and she is my selection to beat Allegorie De Vassy. Selection: Dinoblue, 4:15 Naas.

Don’t forget the 1 point treble.

Happy punting
