Our ‘Daily Trio’ selections for 15th January 2025
We have four meetings to choose from today and a nice mix of flat, hurdles, and all weather. Newbury looks to be the best card, but I’ll go anywhere for a winner.
My Boy Jack ran five days ago and was given no chance of winning with the ride received. The horse did get going and finished well but was left too far back to catch the leaders. Today is a small step down in grade. This horse looks certain to be involved at the business end, which – considering the inconsistency of most horses in the race – is good enough for me. Selection, My Boy Jack, 2:40 Southwell, 1 point win. (lost)
The Good Doctor can make us feel better from the January blues by winning at Hereford. He has always looked like a future chasing type and has taken to fences reasonably so far, finishing second each time. It’s a step up in trip today which can make a difference and I expect him to travel through the race strongly. He is clear top weight in the race, but horses carry weight for a reason – he is the best horse here. Selection: The Good Doctor, 1:45 Hereford, 1 point win. (lost)
Chief Sunday was driven out to win a three runner race at Market Rasen on handicap debut last time. He is a bigger price than I expected to follow up today. Nigel Twiston-Davies has decided to use a 7lb claimer to offset a penalty and it’s reasonable to think he would have a chance of beating this lot without a claimer on board. It looks like a race full of horses that wouldn’t trouble a judge if they set off ten minutes before the two market principals. Selection: Chief Sunday, 3:58 Hereford, 1 point win. (Won at 7/1)
Also have a 1 point treble.
Take best odds guaranteed if you can.
Happy punting

Points? How do I bet? Simply think of a point as your preferred unit stake. If you want to bet in £10s then you would have 3x £10 wins and an £10 treble.
What is the Daily Trio strategy?
The proven betting system and recommended bet is three singles and a treble. As a rough rule of thumb: one winner = money back, two winners = double your money, three winners = jackpot!
Why does the Daily Trio strategy work?
Mav operates at roughly a 33% strike rate for winners over the year, so around one in three selections win. Assuming each winner is 3/1 on average (some are much higher) then each year we should see money back at least based on purely the single bets alone, and the profit comes from the trebles.
