Our ‘Daily Trio’ selections for 17th January 2025

We are spoilt for choice on Friday with plenty of meetings and a few good bets. Let’s see what the winners are.

Adela Icon didn’t pull up any trees for David Kelly a year or two ago, but this now seven year old has its first run for Willie Mullins and connections will want to kick on quickly. The race favourite is Lau and Shaz for Gavin Cromwell but the form was only average on its hurdle debut last time following a few placed efforts in bumpers. It looks to be a two horse race and the selection is a pretty good price. Selection: Adela Icon, 4:00 Cork, 1 pt win. (lost)

3:00 Blueking D’oroux is a smart horse running in a class two. He ran respectably in the Long Walk at Ascot and should surely be in the mix down in class. Still only a six year old there could be a number of victories in him yet to come. The opposition are all inconsistent, yet capable on their day. This though could be our day. Selection: Blueking D’oroux, 3:00 Windsor,1 pt win. (lost)

Eldorado Allen has been a fantastic fun horse for the Tizzard team, contesting and running well in a lot of hot races. He is a veteran now at 11 years old and conditions look perfect for him to regain the winning thread. He was a fantastic third at Cheltenham last time out and the step up in trip against this opposition will absolutely suit. Market Rasen is an easy track and he could get loose on the lead turning for home. The overnight price is a lot bigger than I expected. The same connections do have the current race favourite in Copperhead so that’s slightly off putting but the stable jockey rides ours. My money will 100% be on Eldorado Allen. Selection, Eldorado Allen, 2:35 Market Rasen, 1pt win. (lost)

Also have a 1 point treble on the three selections.

Happy punting

Points? How do I bet? Simply think of a point as your preferred unit stake. If you want to bet in £10s then you would have 3x £10 wins and an £10 treble.

What is the Daily Trio strategy?

The proven betting system and recommended bet is three singles and a treble. As a rough rule of thumb: one winner = money back, two winners = double your money, three winners = jackpot!

Why does the Daily Trio strategy work?

Mav operates at roughly a 33% strike rate for winners over the year, so around one in three selections win. Assuming each winner is 3/1 on average (some are much higher) then each year we should see money back at least based on purely the single bets alone, and the profit comes from the trebles.
