Todays racing comes from Lingfield, Ripon, Windsor, Carlisle, Cork and Naas – plenty to keep us interested on a run of the mill Monday.
Whilst it’s all low grade stuff, a few horses do stand out on form as being solid bets so I’m hopeful we can drag a few quid from the bookies.
The one I’m most interested in today is Passenger in the 5:00 at Cork. He hasn’t stood much racing so has evidently had problems since going off a strong 9/4 favourite in debut last year when finishing a disappointing sixth. His run last time at Fairyhouse on News Years Day was better, where he finished third and stayed on well towards the end. Todays race looks significantly easier and he can make it third time lucky.
Tiva goes in the 3:10 at Ripon and drops in class from a hot York handicap last time out. This assignment today is much more realistic and her six runs prior to the York run were consistent. Her rivals look thin on the ground unless improvement is found from somewhere.
Niyla Breeze has a strong chance in the 1:53 at Lingfield. She made her racecourse debut at Wolverhampton in March and had the services of Oisin Murphy, finishing third when a well backed 13/8 favourite. She was evidently fancied and any improvement from that run should see her go close today. It’s interesting that she is up slightly in trip since debut also.
