Free Daily Tips: 12th February

It’s a run of the mill Wednesday to be honest with nothing to get too excited about. There is a winner in every race though and it’s my job to find them.

Wetherby

1:55 Strolling Along. I’m not backing a 1/3 shot in Wendigo so will look for a little value. Strolling Along should improve from his hurdles debut last time out.

2:30 Champagnesuperover. Was warming to the task and travelling with purpose when falling last time out. I think he’d have gone close to winning there and he has to have a good chance here if he gets a clean round of jumping under Sean Bowen.

3:05 Scotland The Brave. Live Conti is priced on reputation only and is a 1/7 shot overnight which is simply unbackable. For all he should win – he holds a triumph hurdle entry so is expected to be better than this lot of average at best performers – there is the dead 8 runners overnight for each way purposes. No doubt one will be a non runner, conveniently for the bookies, but if it stays at 8 runners I’ll be backing Scotland The Brave as an each way bet to nothing.

3:40 Getaway Drumlee. Travelled like a good horse when getting collared close home on his last outing and goes again off an unchanged mark. Has a great chance.

4:13 West To The Bridge. Cheekpieces go on after a few poor performances. He has the class to win this race if they work.

4:45 Prince Nino. A hands and heels race where getting a good jockey is half of the battle. Prince Nino has the capable Freddie Keighley on board and the horse is running into form based on his strong finishing second place last time out.

Hereford

1:10 Wicked Thoughts. First I’m having a whinge, how can the bookies price up a race where there are two odds in shots in the same 8 runner race. Scandalous. Wicked Thoughts and Tommy The Tank are both a shade of odds on here and I fancy Wicked Thoughts to get the better of the argument.

1:43 Nini Star. The French raider Play It Again is odds on for this race based on its run over in Cagnes-Sur-Mer. How that form will translate is anyone’s guess, but regardless I like Nini Star. Nini Star didn’t set the world alight on the flat running for David Menusier but has moved to the David Pipe yard and is going well enough at home.

2:18 Simple Getaway. Ran well last time out and looks a certainty to win one of these soon enough. Has always looked a chaser in the making and made a good chase debut last week finishing second. Can get a win on the board today.

2:53 Chestnut Pete. Poor race. A chance is taken on Chestnut Pete first time out for Katy Price, who has booked Sam Twiston-Davies.

3:28 Miss Pearl. Would have won last time over another few yards and can get compensation here if turned out again just five days after that effort.

4:03 Klic Boum. One of two in the race for Evan Williams. Ran okay in bumpers / maiden hurdles and made a satisfactory start to life in handicaps last time when to be honest it looked like connections were saving him for another day. He finished full of running. The horse is very unexposed and could be a handicap blot.

4:38 Build Your Dream. His debut fourth was encouraging and I’d expect a better performance this time. I’d be more confident if the horse was with a different yard as the Paul Nicholls horses are running terribly at the minute, but this horse has to have a serious chance here.

Southwell

11:55 Come On John. Consistent form in recent weeks and sports first time blinkers.

12:25 Harry The Haggler. Good run last time when second at Wolverhampton. Hasn’t won in 13 starts but has an excellent chance here. This looks like a drop in class against these rivals and Rossa Ryan can ride with the confidence he is on the best horse.

12:55 Stallone. C&D winner who has been out of form a while now but showed signs of a resurgence four days ago at Newcastle and can take this if turned out again quickly under a 7lb claimer.

1:30 Picturesque. Was given a delicate ride on debut, showing ability without ever being asked a question or an attempt made at winning the race. Can step forward with that experience under her belt to take this race at a nice price.

2:05 Northcliff. Another poor race but Billy Loughnane’s mount ran well last time out and has a fair chance of taking this.

2:40 Hierarchy. Was given too much to do last time and has a strong chance today if given a better ride.

3:15 Orangesandlemons. Good run at Newcastle and can finally get a win after a string of four second place efforts in a row.

3:50 Risk. Tom Dascombes horse ran on well to finish third last time and showed there is room to play with in his handicap mark.

4:20 Jump The Gun. A fair campaigner at this level, Rav Havlin can get a tune out of him in what is a very open handicap.

Kempton

4:25 Follow Your Heart. Jockey Warren Fentiman is riding well at the minute and has a good chance of adding to his tally with Follow Your Heart, a three time C&D winner who ran well to finish second last time out.

5:00 Ballarat Bertie. Richard Hughes stick the blinkers on this one today who improved on what it has shown previously to finish fourth on its latest appearance. Unexposed type, albeit no world beater.

5:30 Manton Road. My initial reaction was to try and get this horse beaten in the hat trick bid but I couldn’t find anything else to rely on.

6:00 Shipshape. We should get a nice price with the Godolphin newcomer Modern Day in the line up. Shipshape looks one that will improve with racing and can step up here for Ralph Beckett and Hector Crouch.

6:30 Gaiety Musical. Has won its last two races but is only second favourite for today in the overnight betting. Great chance of landing the hat trick.

7:00 King’s Lynn. Andrew Balding’s horse has been a punting disaster having gone 26 races without a win, I haven’t backed him before myself but will be going in today. Kings Lynn makes its polytrack debut off the back of an improved run last time and the stable are in good form.

7:30 Sonnerie Power. Seems out of form and inconsistent but this is his first go in a 0-70 grade and is much more realistic.

8:00 Our Dagger. Value for more than the winning distance last time and has scope for further improvement yet.

8:30 Kondratiev Wave. Not one for the mortgage but the horse has a massive chance in a weak race.

Happy punting
