Our Daily Trio selections for Sunday 16th February

***Racing at Punchestown has been abandoned today due to the sad news about Michael O’Sullivan’s passing. Thoughts to the family.***

It’s that quiet period now where we are all sat waiting for Cheltenham and finding winners hard to come by. I am strangely quite excited for todays racing though as I fancy one in particular very strongly.

Stamina shouldn’t be a problem for Jem In Em in the 4:30. This horse is a 3m2f hurdles winner who showed a good aptitude for chasing when finishing second at Newcastle. Has been freshened up since and the trainer Lucinda Russell likes this meeting. Selection: Jem In Em, 4:30 Musselburgh, 1 point win.

Cleatus Poolaw is significantly up in trip and is a strong fancy at a nice price. I fancied him yesterday but he was a non runner, saved for this race by Gordon Elliott. Looks very favourably treated at the weights and I see no reason why he won’t stay the distance. Selection: Cleatus Poolaw, 3:10 Punchestown, 1 point win.

It’s unbelievable that Dr Eggman is still a maiden over hurdles. Hopefully he won’t be after today. He sets a very high standard and should still have plenty of room for improvement himself. Selection: Dr Eggman, 4:10 Punchestown, 1 point win.

  • No treble today as only one runner

Happy punting
