Free Daily Tips: 23rd February
Fontwell
2:00 Le Galli Bier. Okay French form and yard will be looking to get over Mondo Man’s disappointment yesterday.
2:30 Leading Swoop. Consistent but still a maiden. Looks the best in this field though. First time headgear.
3:00 Salver. Enjoys a good pull in the weights from a half-length beating from Nemean Lion last time, and should be better suited by Fontwell. Really should win this race.
3:30 Kruger Park. His been running with credit and the slight drop back in trio should help. Major chance.
4:00 Bobalot. We backed this at 22/1 last time our when it came home in second place, looking like it needed further. It will be much shorter in the betting than 22/1 here but gets the step up in trip and looks a solid option.
4:30 Dear Ralphy. Tried fences once a year ago when falling but has won over hurdles and performed with credit since. Goes well fresh and has an other go over fences today. If he jumps cleanly, he wins.
5:00 Gaelic Pride. Harry Cobden is booked for the horse’s racecourse debut by trainer Warren Greatrex which looks a show of intent for this £50k purchase. It’s a weak race with only the favourite Cinquenta looking likely to challlenge.
Hereford
2:10 Seahouses. Was a 33/1 winner for me a few weeks ago and goes again. Initially I thought there was no chance he would go in again, but he is the only hurdler winner in a weak race and finding an argument for any of his rivals is hard work.
2:40 Zestful Hope. Has ran well numerous times this season without winning and this looks a fair opportunity.
3:10 Laughing John. Needed the experience when third at Newbury on debut. Will improve. Star Of Guiting finished a place ahead of Laughing John in that race but doesn’t appear to have the same potential for improvement and scope as the selection.
3:40 Champagnesuperover. Useless recent form but was running as if back to form when unseating last time out. If he shows the same enthusiasm he can take this.
4:10 Crying Lightning. Looks to be ignored in the market compared to Youhadmeathello and Picture Of You. Youhadmeathello is a six year old who hasn’t been seen on the racecourse before so we have no idea if she is good or completely rubbish. Picture of You is a Henry De Bromhead discard so can’t have much scope for future improvement. Crying Lightning has experience with the three runs in bumpers, running in a listed event last time which is the best actual form on offer. She is my selection here at a much bigger price than the other two.
4:40 Minniemum. Could be a fun horse to go chasing with. Decent hurdles form for the grade.
5:10 Donttellyamumjack. A half brother to six winners, and the stable does well with their bumper runners. Nearly all the field are unraced, but this one took my eye.
Naas
1:50 Hello Jack. Wide open race, can improve from his third at Fairyhouse.
2:20 Good To Be Alive. Easily won on debut so I’m confused why the horse is as high as 4/1 in the overnight betting in a five horse race.
2:50 Jacob’s Ladder. Won last time with absolute ease despite the small winning distance. I can’t abandon him.
3:20 Gabbys Cross. Severely overdue a win and finally takes in a more suitable (shorter) distance.
3:50 Senior Chief. Makes handicap hurdle debut here despite being a Cheltenham winner over the larger obstacles this season. Connections must have a plan.
4:20 Spinningayarn. Impossible to oppose.
4:50 Shannon Royale. Can bounce back from a sub par run last time out.
5:20 Blood Destiny. Impossible to oppose against these rivals. Needs to jump okay to win.
