About · What this site is and does
How Kickthebookies works
Kickthebookies is the analytical layer of horse racing: the statistics, prices and records behind a race, shown plainly so you can make your own call. It is not a tipping site — we show you the evidence and trust you with the decision.
This page is the whole site in one read: where the numbers come from, what each of our own figures means, the rules we hold ourselves to, and where to start — beginning with today’s racecards.
Every race in Great Britain, Ireland and France from 2 January 2005 to 22 October 2026, counted from our own archive at 23 October 2026, 04:40 UK time. Re-counted nightly.

Where the numbers come from
The archive: the full result of every race in Great Britain, Ireland and France since January 2005 — finishing order, starting price and the race's overround for every runner, the going, the distance and the class.
Since September 2026 we also record every price change on every GB and Irish runner through the day until the off, so a move is a fact we hold, not a recollection.
Every figure on the site is computed from this one archive by one shared service, so the number on a course page, a trainer profile and a racecard is the same number. None of our figures is copied from ratings published by others.
Our own figures
Four figures we compute ourselves. Each has a page that says what it measures and what it does not.
Fit Score
A 0–100 figure for how well a horse fits the race it is about to run, built from form and connections and frozen overnight. The top-rated runner in every race is shown each day and graded in public afterwards, win or lose. How the Fit Score works →
KTB Rating
How good a horse is, in pounds, from what horses have done against each other in our archive, never from the official rating or betting prices. Every past run's figure is free on results and horse pages; before racing, every runner's figure is free in one race a day, the Open Race. How KTB Rating is made →
KTB Speed
How fast a horse ran against a standard time for the course and distance, corrected for the day's ground; 100 is the typical GB Class 4 handicap winner. Shown on the same terms as KTB Rating. How KTB Speed is made →
Fair A/E
How often a trainer's or jockey's runners won against how often a market with the bookmaker's margin stripped out expected them to; 1.00 is exactly as expected. Samples full of favourites read a few points above 1.00, so it is read beside its sample size, never on its own.The Fair A/E methodology →
The rules we hold ourselves to
- Every number carries the number of runs it came from and the moment it was true.
- Silence is a result: where a sample is too thin or a book too incomplete to read honestly, we show a gap, not a number.
- We grade our own score in public, win or lose, on the same basis we apply to everyone else.
- Insight, never instruction: we show, record and point to; we never tell you what to back or what to stake.
- A price move is a fact. We report what moved and by how much, and never dress it up as a reason to act.
- Where a sentence is worded by a language model — the horse-profile summaries and the race previews — it is built from archive facts and checked against them number for number before it is shown, and the methodology page says so.
- Links to bookmakers are affiliate links and are marked as such; the set of bookmakers compared is the list on the page. The figures do not change because of it. 18+ · GamCare.org.uk (UK) · GamblingCare.ie (Ireland).
How the site is paid for
Everything on Kickthebookies is free to read.
When you follow a link to a bookmaker from an odds tool and open an account, the bookmaker pays us a share. That is the whole model: the affiliate click follows the utility, it never leads it.
Where to start
Questions people ask
Is Kickthebookies a tipping site?
No. It shows the statistics, prices and records behind a race and leaves the decision to you. Where it shows its own top-rated runner, that is a figure with a public record, not advice.
Where do your figures come from?
From our own archive of every race in Great Britain, Ireland and France since January 2005, with every starting price and overround stored. Nothing is copied from ratings published by others.
What is the Fit Score?
A 0–100 figure for how well a horse fits the race it is about to run, built from form and connections, frozen overnight and graded afterwards. Its own page explains what it measures and what it does not.
What is the difference between KTB Rating and the official rating?
The official rating is the handicapper's mark, set by the British Horseracing Authority and the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board. KTB Rating is ours, on the same pounds scale, built only from what horses have done against each other in our archive — never from the official mark or from prices.
Why does a page sometimes show no number?
Because the sample is too thin or the book too incomplete to read honestly. A gap is deliberate; a dash means unknown, not zero.
What do "N" and "as at" mean beside a figure?
N is the number of runs the figure was computed from; "as at" is the moment it was true. Every number on the site carries both.
Do you use a language model?
For two things: the short written summary on a horse profile and the race previews. Both are worded from archive facts and checked against them before they are shown. No figure is produced by a model.
How is the site paid for?
Affiliate links to bookmakers in the odds tools. Everything is free to read, and the figures do not change because of it.
How often does the data update?
Prices through the day until the off; fast results as each official result is published; the archive and every figure computed from it overnight.
Can I quote your figures?
Yes, with attribution and a link to the page the figure came from, carrying the as-at date shown beside it.
Written and checked by Kickthebookies. The full definition of each figure, including the conditions under which we publish no figure at all, is on its own page: the Fit Score, KTB Rating, KTB Speed and Fair A/E. What a word means is in the glossary; what we publish and why is in the editorial policy. Questions or corrections: the contact page.
