Angles that have paid

at SP, two periods

Past results at starting price, not a forecast. Each angle made a £1 level-stakes profit in both periods (Jan 2005 – Sep 2021, and since Oct 2021), with at least 100 SP-priced runs and 10 winners in all, and is still in profit with its single biggest winner taken out. The same on every view of this page.

No angle at Bath clears those tests. Nothing here has paid consistently at SP — which is itself worth knowing.

About Bath

checked October 2026

Layout and key facts

  • Where: Lansdown Hill, about two miles north-west of Bath, Somerset — Flat only, turf.
  • Shape: Left-handed, about 1m4f round, with a long uphill home straight of nearly 4f.
  • Watering: The course is not watered, so it races on whatever the weather gives it.

Going and the seasons

  • Summer: Firm or good to firm is usual in dry spells, which makes Bath one of the quickest tracks in Britain.
  • Spring and autumn: The early and late fixtures race on easier ground after rain; the climb to the line stays stiff whatever the going.

Signature races and fixtures

  • Listed races: The Lansdown Fillies' Stakes (5f) in April and the Beckford Stakes in the autumn.
  • Summer: Evening and weekend fixtures of handicaps from May to September.

Practical notes

  • Getting there: Shuttle buses run from Bath Spa station on racedays; by road from the A46 and the M4 (junction 18).
  • Viewing: The stands sit high on the hill with the whole course and the city below in view.
